2014-03-23 - Why Pray?

Pastor David Sincock

Why Pray? - John 3:27

When Trouble Knocks at your Door

  • Prayer is the gracious opportunity to speak directly to God
  • We direct our communication to God the Father
  • God the Son, Jesus is our connector, priest, mediator
  • The Spirit helps us pray as inferior humans
  • We feel good when we pray
  • We feel guilty when we are negligent
  • Prayer does not happen naturally
  • Prayer is a learned response and discipline
Why pray?
  • Three things prompt us to pray:
    • we share our needs
    • we request our desires
    • we express our love and worship
  • For many of us, the most intense times of prayer that we have experienced have come because of trouble

2014-02-02 - The Good Life

Pastor Toby Locke
February 2, 2014
"The Good Life"

  • God wants us to experience "the good life." (John 15: 4-7)
    • How do we access this life-source?
      • We abide in Jesus.
    • But what does that mean?  In REAL Life?
      • We must choose to stay connected to Jesus.
      • We must choose to abandon the substitutes.
    • What does this look like in a moment of crisis?
      • Pay attention to your hunger and the substitutes that you are being offered.
      • Cry out to Jesus... first.. for satisfaction
      • Ask Jesus what to do next -- John 15:7
